Vanilla Escape Cocktail

I love this cocktail on a warm day … or on cold days when I want to be somewhere warm.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz of dark or spiced rum

  • 1 oz of freshly squeezed orange juice (it MUST be fresh)

  • .5 oz of Not so Vanilla syrup

  • 1 good shake of Peychauds bitters (Angostura will work too, but Peychauds is better)

  • 1 egg white OR 6 good shakes of an egg-free foamer, I like this one

Instructions

  • pour the rum, orange juice, simple syrup, bitters, and fee foam or egg whites into a shaker with NO ice

  • shake the ingredients really hard for a good 40 shakes, this is called dry shaking

  • then add a heavy scoop of ice and shake again until chilled, then strain into a double rocks glass over ice

  • garnish with an orange twist, cinnamon stick, or a thin apple slice … or all three!
